About

Since July 2004 we have undertaken fifteen on line courses at LVS for the purpose of creating and maintaining web sites. We focused on such topics as Web Development, Web Site Editors, and the graphics program, Paint Shop Pro. From 2001 to 2004 we enrolled in basic html courses at another on-line resource, Virtual University. We found LVS offering a variety and more advanced classes that keep us stretching the learning curve in a number of related topics.

Since we had an interest in web sites moving into blogging seems natural thing to do. This influenced the enrollment in LVS course on “Blogging for Fun, Fame, and Fortune.” Before taking this course we started a Google blog for uploading images of 2006 Lewis and Clark trip.  Then, it dawned on us that by taking “Blogging for Fun, Fame and Fortune,” we would be prepared to create and maintain a WordPress Blog.  Our neighborhood association VP provided a host for the neighborhood WordPress blog and it was turned over to us for maintenance. Now our neighborhood is focusing on Google Group to enhance communication between neighbors and we are co-owner of that group.

In preparing for uploading web sites and blogs, we subscribed to GoDaddy.com host and after four weeks we decided to use the domain name samtexviews.com for the class blog. We now feel comfortable in using the host’s features to build a “WordPress” blog. WordPress start up through host site applications of GoDaddy.com.

As we have boxes of travel mementos and pictures in storage, a blog on travel experiences seemed like a good topic for initiating a travel log blog for the blog class.  Then, we continue with this blog as continuing learning exercise.  Maybe the word “Discover” has other generic meanings that will give us latitude for expansion of the blog into other areas of “Discovery.” It’s new to us is a discovery, right?

Please let it be known that comments and criticisms are most welcome!
